Invacare partners with world record holder Ian Mackay for his flagship Sea to Sound event

World record holder Ian Mackay - Sea to Sound event

We are proud to join Guinness World Record holder Ian Mackay at his upcoming Sea To Sound event this month.

From August 23 to 25, we’re joining Ian on his journey across the infamous Olympic Discovery Trail at Port Angeles, Washington, USA. Click here to discover more about our journey with Ian.

Ian, his friends, and participants will travel up to 74 miles over the 3 days. For the event, Ian will take his Invacare TDX® power wheelchair across some of the most beautiful natural landscapes. The Olympic Discovery Trail is the farthest northwest expanse of land you can explore along the US coast. It is home to some of the most scenic views and diverse ecosystems.

The annual Sea To Sound event started in 2019, has garnered the support of thousands of participants over the years.

As a genuine and passionate advocate for outdoor accessibility for all, Ian will be joined by hundreds of participants and volunteers of all abilities who will come together to connect, challenge themselves and, most importantly, have fun.

Ian told us “As part of my rehabilitation, I have found that getting outdoors is a great way to restore my confidence and well-being. The Sea to Sound event, supported by Invacare, really highlights how important accessibility is for everyone. I am proud that more and more people get involved each year.  I am so thankful to Invacare for my TDX power wheelchair. Without the equipment, I really would not be able to consider this challenge and do what I love.”

Through his non-profit organisation ‘Ian’s Ride’, participants will also be joined by several dignitaries, including our President and CEO Geoff Purtill, who will take time to experience accessing the outdoors in an Invacare power wheelchair. It gives them the chance to gain insight into the importance of accessibility and increase awareness to help drive change.

We’re proud to support Ian at such a special event this year that aligns with our mission and values as an organisation. We encourage everyone to follow us and learn more across our socials during August 23-25 #JOINTHEJOURNEY.

You can find more information about Ian’s chair of choice, the Invacare TDX SP2 ULTRA LOW MAX or wider Invacare Power Series.

Good luck to everyone involved!
