Disability Pride Month celebrates inclusion and awareness

July 2024 marks the annual observance of Disability Pride Month, a time dedicated to celebrating the achievements, culture, and contributions of people with disabilities.

This month-long event also aims to increase awareness and promote the inclusion of individuals with disabilities in all areas of society.

This year, the theme “Empowering Voices, Enabling Rights” emphasizes the importance of amplifying the voices of people with disabilities and ensuring their rights are respected and upheld.

At Invacare, we asked Ian Mackay, one of our ambassadors, to tell us what he is really proud of regarding his disability.

Hear Ian’s words in the video below:

Ian is a passionate advocate for outdoor accessibility. He is an Invacare TDX power chair user with many world record breaking achievements. Discover his amazing story here: Ian’s Ride

As Disability Pride Month continues to grow in recognition, it serves as a reminder of the progress made and the work still needed to create an inclusive society where everyone can participate fully and equally.
